C'mon, Let's Build A Food Web!!
Father Fish is at the forefront of aquarium food web research, focusing on using wild-collected leaves from lakes, rivers, and other water bodies. He challenges the conventional belief that aquariums must be sterile environments devoid of bacteria. Instead, he argues that fish, like humans, come from natural ecosystems teeming with life, including beneficial bacteria essential for their health. Father Fish advocates for a more natural approach to aquarium maintenance, suggesting that frequent water changes are unnecessary if a balanced food web and planted aquarium are established. He demonstrates this by asserting that he could leave his aquarium for 6 months relying solely on the food web and plants to sustain his fish. This method emphasizes sustainability and ecological balance within artificial habitats, mirroring natural aquatic ecosystems. Father Fish's research and practices aim to revolutionize aquarium care by promoting self-sustaining environments that prioritize the holistic health of aquatic life through natural processes and minimal human intervention.
A Food Web is the basis of a Natural Aquarium. Father Fish teaches how to build a living food web in your aquarium. The food web is the most natural system for an aquarium. Creating a food web is simple and foolproof. Fish live their entire lives in environments with established food webs. This is their natural environment.

    Would a tank have to be regularly replenished with dead matter or the microorganisms will run out? How often should the fish be fed commercial food?

    And the song you created for the video is truly enchanting! 🎶✨ It resonates deeply, celebrating the intricate beauty of life, from the tiniest plankton to the vibrant plants and graceful fish. Hi Father Fish! 🌊🐟✨ I just wanted to take a moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible work you're doing. At 83 years old, your dedication to creating and maintaining the beauty of the aquatic world is nothing short of inspiring. 🌟🐠 Your videos are not just educational but also a source of wonder and amazement. They help create a culture that deeply appreciates and cares for these intricate underwater ecosystems. Having such aquariums at home is a magical experience, connecting us to the splendor of Mother Nature and the extraordinary planet we call home. 🌍💖 I've always dreamed of having my own aquarium, and now, as I begin this journey as a novice, your knowledge and passion are invaluable to me. Your wisdom will guide me in providing the best care for my aquatic friends. It truly is an art, and it will inspire me in all the work I do as a medical doctor, healer, project developer, public speaker and writer. ✨📚💖 Thank you for sharing your expertise and love for this hobby with all of us. 🙏✨ Your dedication elevates it to a new level of appreciation and understanding. 🙏✨ Best regards, Maya 🌿🏡🐠

    Got a question for you. Whenever I introduce my male and female bettas, the female has dropped a red/pink “ball” out of her area where they drop eggs. The “ball” is larger than the white salt grain size eggs that female bettas drop. Any idea what this could be? It’s happened twice on the two times we introduced them to each other

    Are plants the only thing that is needed to keep the tank/water clean? I want to make a self sustaining ecosystem where I don't have to use any filters, air pumps, heaters, etc. Even the food source if possible. Obviously light is a must though. I just want to build it and let it thrive on its own. Would I have to add a couple of snails to help clean the algae? Maybe some daphnia/ostracods/copepodes as well for the potential renewable food source?

    Spotted two of my cardinal's with one white spot each, iv just upped the temp to 30 degrees C and upper the air in the air stone. This is night one, will update in a couple of days. When should I start dropping the temp? And how much should I reduce it daily to get back to 25 degrees? (That's what my 160L tank has been set on) My tank is only 4/5 weeks old.

    Nothing to say against the video. I have a problem with the food web: the leafs and twigs are full of green hair algae, a UA-camr who has natural aquariums said he didn't add food webs because of that. And also, the leafs turn black, and my dear trumpet snails die when they eat the algae. :(

    Hello from Texas. New subscriber today. I’m have a modest little 5 gallon tank set up and running. I’d like to put some leaves in the bottom. Not a whole lot. I will be getting a betta. I did a dechlorinator and added top fin quick start. I added 4 live plants. It’s looking lovely minus a fish. The substrate was an already cycled product. It’s been running 24 hours and I already see growth. I’m brand new to the hobby. I’m watching all the videos I can. Yours are the only one that doesn’t make me feel like I need a master’s degree on fish tank. Thank you for what you do.

    I've set up my tank and got it in full swing. I have had the filter running since day one. Would you recommend keeping it on or do you turn it off and not use one? I have a bubble machine I pop on every other day or so. Really trying to create what you have and follow in your footsteps. Just hope I've done it right. Time will tell. Thank you again. One amazing guy and an inspiration

    Can I add soil then sand on top to an established concrete pond with fish. I know the water will be dirty but will settle. Then I can add the sand. It is 5m x 2m x 70cm deep. Or do I need to drain and start again?

    My mum says no to all that stuff because of pest snails and the one time my tank had a parasite infestation (which wasn’t even from the plants it was from live bloodworms)

  • @LawfulTrophy1
    @LawfulTrophy1 21 годину тому

    I feel like this is quite a lot of misinformation because : 1. Feeding them only bloodworms will cause deficiencies in some nutrients 2. Bloodworms are very fattening 3. Most Betta fish pellets (or at least what I feed mine) are made of mostly soldier fly larve and krill 4. The best diet for a Betta is a staple pellet food and that supplemented with other foods such as frozen bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp etc .
